When the Path Is Not Clear
A difficult decision can make every option feel heavier than it really is. You may gather information, consider the consequences, and still wonder whether you are choosing wisely. Proverbs 16:9 brings that tension into the presence of God and gives us a truthful place to begin.
The wisdom of Proverbs says that a person plans a course, while the Lord determines the steps. The verse does not shame us for thinking carefully, and it does not tell us that our choices do not matter. It gives us a humble framework for making decisions when the future remains outside our view.

After you have considered the matter carefully, resist the demand for perfect certainty. Move forward with integrity, remain attentive to new information, and be willing to adjust your steps without assuming that a changed plan means you have failed.

A Prayer for Difficult Decisions
Lord God, You are wise beyond my understanding, and You see the whole path when I can see only the next part. You are not limited by my incomplete information, changing circumstances, or uncertain plans. I praise You as the Lord who remains present and sovereign over every step.
Forgive me for the ways I try to control outcomes that belong to You. I confess that fear can make me rush, while pride can make me trust my own judgment without seeking wisdom. Teach me to plan responsibly without treating my plans as ultimate, and give me a humble heart that is willing to listen and change direction.
Thank You for giving me the ability to think, prepare, seek counsel, and make choices with care. Thank You that I do not have to understand the whole road before bringing my decision before You. I am grateful that Your rule is not threatened by my limitations and that my uncertainty does not place me outside Your care.
Jesus, help me make this decision with honesty, patience, and wisdom. Show me what information I need, what motives I should examine, and what next step reflects faithfulness. Guard me from panic and self-reliance. Give me courage to act when action is needed, humility to wait when waiting is wise, and grace to receive a different path than the one I expected.
